When we first met our little man, we noticed that he had a small bump just outside of the iris on one of his eyes. "It's probably allergies," the doctor at the IOM told us, "children rub dirt in their eyes, and it gets a bump. It will probably go away - just tell him to stop rubbing it."
That was in October. Now it is March, and it hasn't gone away (seriously? why?). His eyes have gotten redder (sigh), there are bumps now in both eyes (eek), and - to top it off - it has gotten so noticeable that he often holds his eyelid open and chases Suma around the house screaming, "THE BUMP!!!" (ok, that really makes me laugh).
So after 5 eye doctor appointments, 3 doctors scratching their heads and 3 different eye drops, I think that we are finally making some headway. Hooray! The eye drop that he is currently taking appears to be clearing his eyes, and what makes me most happy is that they have an idea of what may be causing the bumps to appear. They're not 100% sure on what it is, and they admit that it may be coupled with something else, but it's something to research on the internet.
We'll go back tomorrow and again in a week to check it out. I'd like to stop footing the doctor's monthly gas budget, but more than that, I'd really like our son to have clear eyes. Please be praying that his eyes will heal and that in the meantime, THE BUMP won't scar Suma for life (it probably won't) and that it will take awhile for Ibra to find something else to use when he chases her around. ;)

ReplyDeleteso glad for the headway with the drops. will be praying for his complete healing. when alex was little i remember he had his eyes dilated with drops several times....getting the drops in was so difficult. you guys should be commended for sticktuitiveness in the eye dropper business.
